This is a great dish that goes well with rice. The main ingredients of this soup are potatoes, black-eyed beans and bamboo shoot. Bamboo shoots are readily available in Chinese grocery stores.



Ingredients:
  • A handful of sour bamboo shoot (If you don't prefer sour taste, you can use normal bamboo shoot.)
  • 1/2 cup black-eyed beans, soaked overnight
  • 5-6 medium sized potatoes, peeled and cut in small cubes
  • 50g mince (You can make it a vegetarian dish by not adding mince.)
  • 1 tomato, chopped



I bought some chicken wings. I used the drumettes and the wings for roasting. I was left with the tips of the wings. I came up with the idea of making chicken soup with the left-overs so nothing gets wasted. It is a healthy winter soup with dumplings, fish balls and green leafy vegetables. I prefer to use buk choy because of the crunchiness of the shoot.



Ingredients:
  • 300g of chicken wing tips
  • A bunch of buk choy, chopped
  • 1 red chilli, finely chopped
  • 3-4 stalks of spring onion, finely chopped and leave the shoots aside
  • 5-6 garlic cloves, finely chopped


Today I am going to demonstrate how to make flat bread with spinach and potato. You can enjoy this bread with lentil soup, curries, stir-fried meat or on its own.



Ingredients
  • 2 cups of plain flour
  • 4 medium-sized potatoes
  • A bunch of spinach
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds


This is one of my favourite dishes. I often like to eat various flavours of Laksa. Few days ago I attempted my own fish ball and beef Laksa. I thought it would be complicated but I found it quite simple and easy to make. Please tell me what you think about this recipe and share your views.

Ingredients:
  • 200ml lite coconut cream
  • 800ml chicken stock
  • 1/2 jar Laksa paste
  • 250g fish balls




About a month ago, I posted a recipe for Steamed Dumplings. Dumplings are easy to make but most people find it hard to prepare and design the wrappers from scratch. I thought I didn't explain enough about making and designing dumpling wrappers in my previous post. So I've decided to dedicate an entire post for this topic. Today I am going to do a short demo (with images and videos) on how to make the dumpling wrappers from scratch. I will be showing you 2 different wrapper designs.



These deep fried light airy puffs are easy to make. You can enjoy these as a snack. The puffs are crispy outside and soft inside. I enjoy eating the puffs with tea or coffee.


Makes 15-20 puffs

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of turmeric powder (This is optional - I use this to bring a nice yellowish colour)



This is a simple summer salad that goes well with any meal or can be enjoyed on its own. Let me know what you think about it.

Ingredients:
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1/2 Spanish onion
  • 1/2 orange





Osso Bucco stew is a great winter dish. It goes well with rice, bread, polenta or mashed potato. Star anise and Bay leaves give this stew a wonderful aroma.


Serves 4

Ingredients:
  • 2 pieces of Osso Bucco
  • 1 large Spanish onion, sliced
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 small piece of ginger, crushed


Sesame is widely used in various dishes. Today I will demonstrate how to make sweet using white sesame seeds. If you like sesame, I am sure you will love this sweet.


Ingredients:
  • 3-4 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons milk powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons honey



Semolina pudding is enjoyed by people of all age groups. It is very easy to make. I like to eat semolina pudding while it is warm. I also spread it on top of a bread.


Serves 3

Ingredients:
  • 190ml fine semolina
  • 1 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 tablespoon butter


This is a quick and easy soup recipe with readily available ingredients. This is good for winter weekdays when you come home tired from work and want something quick to eat.


Serves 2

Ingredients:
  • 2 and 1/2 cups of water
  • 2 cubes of chicken or vegetable stock
  • 2 eggs, beaten


Zucchini filled with mince makes a delicious and a healthy meal. You can use any kind of mince. I have used beef for this recipe.


Ingredients:
  • 6 small zucchini
  • 3 tablespoon oil
  • 200g minced beef
  • 1/2 finely chopped onion
